The National Classic
The 2011 National Classic was a stunning success. Unfortunatly no one won the car, the closest attempt was one foot away!
Our chosen venue was De Vere Mottram Hall, past host to the Ladies British Masters, a 7006 yard championship course with magnificent parkland fairways dotted with oak and beech trees and tricky, well-guarded greens giving superb views across the Derbyshire Peak District. This is golf at its best.
Peter Alliss sums the course up perfectly:
‘it’s a really good test of golf, a test for really good golfers’
World renowned course architect, Dave Thomas, who previously designed the Brabazon course at the Belfry, has created a challenging 7006 yard par 72 gem, a perfect test to determine The Golfers Club 2011 champion. BBC pundit Ken Brown described the 17th 463 yards, par 4 as “probably the most picturesque hole in Cheshire”.
The National Classic today is a fantastic day out where you get to enjoy a stunning course, sit down to a championship dinner and have the chance to win some great prizes. The date and venue for the 2012 National Classic are currently being finalised.
