Even Mizuno themselves may have been a little surprised by the success of their JPX 850 forged irons – not just with the club golfer but also among the tour pros.

It proved, beyond doubt, that the forgiveness and ball speed advantages of adding Boron to the forging process was something even the world’s best ball strikers can benefit from.

So it comes as no surprise that Mizuno have now added Boron to their MP line up for the first time.

The new MP-25s have the stunning looks and feel you’d expect but are also very consistent, forgiving and will appeal to a wider range of abilities.

The new MP-5s, designed for ultimate feel and workability, are closer to a classic Mizuno blade but feature a channel-back design for more stability on off- centre strikes.

The top line is slighter thicker to promote confidence but the proportions will still satisfy the better player’s eye at address.

This latest technology in particular really improves the forgiveness and consistency of irons.

Even if you’re a die-hard blade player, there’s no need to be stubborn if you need help, particularly in the longer irons.

With the MP-25s and MP-5s you’re certainly not sacrificing anything in the looks department.

SRP: £115 per iron

Shafts: Dynamic Gold S300/R300, Project X 5.5

MP-5 irons
